Ira hotel Reviews:
"Hotel Ira on the Caldera"
Date: March 31, 2004

I just returned
from spring break in Greece, I brought my two teens. It was
marvelous, especially in the off season. We stayed at the Hotel
Ira on the Caldera in Santorini within walking distance of the
downtown. This is a moderately priced hotel (we paid 110 Euro )
for two rooms per night. In addition to the view, and the
location and the comfort of Hotel Ira is the service.Manos (the
owner) meets you at the airport with a sign with your name and
brings you to the hotel. He speaks excellent English, is
incredibly honest, and is fun is very interesting. He is a
former marketing director of rock bands in Athens and knows the
island perfectly. It's a great way of getting to know the town
and island at an intimate level, as this is a place to walk,
eat, hang out in the bars/coffee shops in the afternoon, and
discuss politics and get to know how other people live. Besides
hanging out there is the hike to Ioa (10 KM) over the caldera,
visiting Akrotiri (an excellent dig), and a chilling swim at the
"hot springs". When your done, Manos brings you back
to the airport.People taking cruises to these places are missing
out (big time) in discovering the flavor of the local scene.

Hotel Villa Odyssey: "Villa Odyssey and Santorini were
AWESOME!"

My girlfriend and I stayed at
Villa Odyssey on Santorini for 3 days in October 2003. The hotel
was very nice and the price was very inexpensive ($35). The
property was new, immaculately clean, and well furnished. The
staff (Yanni and his sister Maria) were VERY friendly and
helpful. They picked us up at the port, helped make all of our
arrangements (scooter, boat excusions, engagment ring!!!!!) We
loved them and their hotel and highly recommend that you stay at
Hotel Odyssey. Santorini itself was spectacular. Do not miss
this island, as it is one of the most beautiful places on earth.
We got engaged on the cable car going down the caldera. It was
breath taking and couldn't have been more romantic |

Kyma Villas: "Room with a view!"

The most memorable experience
of Greece was enjoying a glass of wine on the terrace outside of
our suite overlooking the caldera. The actual suite was very
comfortable and clean, though a little warm at night as there
are no windows (its a cave!) but the owner can provide a fan.
The room we occupied was quite large, with a separate kitchen
and living area. There is also a swimming pool to cool off after
a heated day of sightseeing |
