| The first appearance of the Koutsogiannopoulos family on the
island of Santorini. |

| The year
1870, the Grigorios and Dimitrios Koutsogiannopoulos brothers, arrived on
the island of Santorini with a sailboat coming from the Katavothra-Molaon
of Lakonia. |
| The
sailboat, was heading to Siros island-were the mercantile was prosperous
-when strong west winds force the sailboat, instead of Siros island to
approach Santorini island, where they finally
disembark. |
| At that
time in Santorini, was developed a lot, the merchantile shipping firstly, because in the volcano they
were many bays, safe for the sailboats and second and most important
because it was transitional station to Crete and Egypt, which Egypt later
on, they developed interesting relations concerning wine
trade. |
| From
their first contacts, the young Koutsogiannopoulos brothers realised, that
Santorini had great trade interest. They took advantage of the
opportunities they found, starting with mercantile oil, which they carry
with sacs from their home town. |
| The
sharpness of their spirit and their hardworking life style, it had as a
result in almost two decades, to growth and create a huge financial
surface in land and sailboats, something really remarkable for the
Santorini's status back then. |
| Grigorios brought up four (4) children and Dimitrios eight
(8) children, which two (2) of them become scientists and the rest become
experts at their sector. |
